Everyone is talking about the tips and tricks of Internet “Marketing“
People in the Internet Marketing Business talk about: Content is king, Link Baiting, Link Building etc. Maybe it’s because I studied Marketing and because I do know what it means, it annoys me that people call that Marketing. But in fact it has little or nothing to do with Marketing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very thankful that Link Building and Link Baiting exists, because without it I wouldn’t have a job. But if you want to be very successful with your website there are things more important, and the tips and tricks of Internet Marketing are just some tools that make it easier to get there.
The most important thing is the customer
You need to find out what the customer wants and what the customer is looking for. To find that out the best thing you can do is make a good Marketing Plan. There are three different things a customer could be looking for when he enters a query in a search engine:
1. He could want to buy something (transactional query)
2. He could be looking for information (informational query)
3. He could be trying to navigate to an address (navigational query)
For instance when someone is looking for “Orange” in Google they could want to buy something from the phone company Orange (1), they could want information about the phone company Orange (2) and lastly they could be unsure about what the correct web address of the phone company is and the can be trying to navigate there (3). But to make it a little more difficult, the user could also be looking for the fruit, the colour orange, the county Orange, the city Orange etc. So the first step is to build pages, that when a user clicks on your page in the search engine, they will find all three-in-one (and it will surely probably give you more Google Love and you are probably even sell more). Don’t exaggerate all three, because when people visit your page they will first scan your page instead of reading it, and what they don’t like is reading the page for half an hour and looking through 500 products.
And then do some more research on how the user wants your website to look, and what he wants on it. After that you can do some tricks, because you do want your customer to be able to find you.
